Updates

Shucks howdy, how y'all doing? I hope you are all well and I hope you are digging the new look.

So on thy right you have a whole new set of pretty buttons. The film ones take you to the Youtube where you can watch the full films. It be great if you could rate the films and if you are feeling even more awesome scratch on down a comment in the comment box. There are a few more films left to upload so I suggest you subscribe to me.

Now for the even newer and cooler thing is my brand spankin new account with "Web Comics Nation". You can now read the entire "Kinetic" and my "Cat and Rabbit" comic in a much easier way. You may have been wondering where your latest "Vicious and Faust" comic is. Well since setting up this new account I've started "Vicious and Faust" back at issue 1 this means there will be no new comic until the 10th of March. Sorry about this but it gives me more time to work on "Porcelain" and you will appreciate it more on that website than here on this blog.

So Youtube for films, Webcomicsnation for comics what's this blogspot account for? Well since "Porcelain" will start becoming more digital again I'll be posting updates on that. This site will also serve as a link to those other 2 accounts and hopefully I can post some behind the scenes stuff here.

Ok let us know what you think about the blogs new look and since I ask for so much, here's a breakdown of "Vicious and Faust" issue 15. From the pencil rough, to the colouring and finally the glossy effects that were done in flash 8. If you want to know how I did it ask away.

Porcelain progress and Comic stuff

Well I've just finished the first half of the animation (YAY!) it still needs to be cleaned up, put into flash and then composited but it is a huge milestone.

Well (as the photo illustrates) Roseline is on the job with the cleanup. We are hoping to finish all the animation by the 12th of Febuary and that's looking quite promising.

Other news. Roseline and I traveled around checking the stores stocking our comics. They have done such a great job displaying them and supporting us. Thanks heaps, also thanks to Michael for delivering the comics.

It was excellent to see that a few of our comics have sold aswell. Roseline even sold out at one of the places.

If you want to check it out, the stores you will find the comics at are:
Quality Comics
Planet Books
and Oxford books

Here's Roseline checking the display at Oxford

Also this blog will be getting 2 regular updates a week. The first is on the Saturday when I will post a new Vicious and Faust comic the second will be on the Tuesday when I will upload one of my short animations to Youtube.

So stay tuned!

The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics

When Chuck Jones died a few years back they played the documentary "Chuck Amuck" (a brilliant doco that's included on Looney Tunes Golden Collection v3). In this doco there was a film that really caught my eye called "The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics".

Thanks to Youtube, I'm finally able to see it and it is as wonderful as I'd hope it would be. Brilliant design by Maurice Noble, clever story and great direction. I really hope they put this film on one of the next Golden Collections.

Enjoy.

CS3 test

Just got my hands on a beta release of the new Photoshop CS3. It has an animation ability. A bit hard to work out and I dont think it is working quite well yet. Anyway here's a little Mr Gough I did. I dont love it and it doesnt use any new CS3 features but it's todays sketch.

Porcelain back on track

Don't let the fact that I'm not in any of these (well staged) photos fool you. Porcelain is all Roseline and I are doing, so expect to see some new exciting stuff soon. Possibly even heading towards being able to answer that question "When will it be finished?"

This here is my workspace. My bad boy drawing desk, my rockin light table, my 'off da hook' reference material and my computer. (He doesnt get talked up because of his very uncool random rebooting)

To Roseline, From Roseline

Maybe it is the new year, or maybe the weather but I find myself feeling very nostalgic.

So today I thought I'd share with you all some very, very special personal drawings. These drawings are all about 3-1 year(s) old and they go right back to when Roseline and I first started going out.
There's a personal story behind every drawing and each drawing is filled with much love.

Thankyou Roseline for all the wonderful memories, the laughs,
the adventures and the friendship. 2007 I know will bring us more

Cat and Rabbit

This is my 6 page comic for an anthology.

Roseline is usually the main artist behind "Cat and Rabbit" but she encouraged me to do my own story. I have Roseline looking over my shoulder making sure I'm staying true to who they are. It's a fun experience and it is great to have Roseline as a mentor on this.

Roseline and
Rob have also done some awesome comics for this anthology.

Panel by panel comics

I was thinking about this on the train ride home today, remembering the good old days of the Rob and Tim panel by panel comics. My smudgy scribbles next to his refined style. I'm going to try and track down them all and put them up here. Hopefully Rob can help us out to find some more.

This one I found is about 4-5 years old. You can tell by the use Arnold Schwarzenegger quote. This was the time those prankcall sound boards were popular. Also I was listening to the beastie boys heaps (I used to have a beastie boys shirt at the time... I miss that shirt)

24 hour comic

UPDATE: The comics will be sold at the Artrage Night Market, which will be series of sea containers and stalls that will appear along James Street from 2pm on November 4. Roseline and I will be there from 7-10 (OMG!).The average price for each comic is about $4 and there are a few good ones you have to check out (especially Roselines, which is very funny and cool).

I just visited Troy today who was another 24 hour artist who's been doing all the printing. I checked my bad boy comic out and WOW I LOVE IT! This is my first comic in print and I hope you all get to see it. Here's a sketch of my cover page, because if you want to see the coloured one you'll have to come to the stall ;)

Last Saturday and Sunday I took part in the worldwide 24 hour comic challenge. It was very, very tough and stressful but it was great fun.

I'll be selling my comic with the other guys as part of "artrage". I know you will all buy my comic because it is awesome, but you have to fork out some cash for the other artists. There are truly some amazing talented people in Perth. Mind blowing stuff I kid you not!

I'll update this with further info on the comic sale and my cover page but for now here are 2 free pages. My second best page and my second worst enjoy :P
